You know her. Either you love her or hate her, there’s no denying that she might very well be the next president of these United States. Don’t know aboot you, but that makes me worry. We are living in dangerous times, and I hope that all of you are paying attention.

Done in Illustrator. This piece was a lot of fun. I hope you like it.

Illustration Friday: Tales And Legends: Little Red

Here’s a little something I whipped up for Illustration Friday. The theme was “Tales and Legends”.

“Little Red” is actually 100% digital. I sketched it out in Illustrator via a Wacom tablet. I then transferred the image file to Corel Painter for the colors.

All in all, I actually like this piece. I think it’s one of my better illustrations IMHO. It was certainly nice to get all of the hardware and software to actually work together to create a successful image.

Baltimore Sports Classics

So I had the pleasure of being assigned the task to create an ad for the Baltimore Sun newspaper promoting the holiday re-airing of some local Bmore sports classics. Cal Ripken’s Ironman game (2131), the BALTIMORE Colts’ championship games in 1958 & 1959, and some Preakness highlights.

I created a series of 3 images and collaged them together for the ad. I did these entirely in Illustrator. Considering the hard deadline I was on, I think they turned out really well. The ads will run in the 12/23, 12/24, and 12/25 editions of the Sun. Be sure to check them out in the Sports section. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek. Click the images to enlarge.

Baltimore Sun Gameday Ads

I just had the pleasure of creating a series of ads for ESPN 1300 AM’s “Baltimore Gameday Radio” that ran (and are still running) in the sports section of the Baltimore Sun newspaper. BGR is a series of Ravens “player’s shows” that run on 1300 AM Mon-Thurs. There is the Ray Lewis Show, the Bart Scott Show, the Jon Ogden Show, and the Willis McGahee Show. But I digress.

Anyway, I’m pretty proud of the way they turned out, and figured that someone may be interested in seeing them. These are modified for the web, so they’re a little lossy, but you get the point. I’d love some constructive criticism if you feel so inclined. I’m always looking to improve my craft. Click the image to enlarge.

Well, I guess this post is ranking pretty well in Google since it’s really the only post of mine that has garnered any real response from the blogoshpere. Thank all of you for commenting below. As an artist, it is highly gratifying to know that I’ve made people think, or feel emotion, or be moved one way or another. Some of you like this piece, some of you hate it, but everyone who’s commented has been moved somehow. That is what every artist strives to do with their work.

The Official 2006 C. Dowd X-Mas Card

Well, here it is! The OFFICIAL 2006 C. Dowd promotional X-Mas card! It was done the old fashioned way with paper and pencil. I scanned it into the ol’ laptop and colored it with Painter. The graphic stuff was done in the highly underated Fireworks program. Click the image to enlarge.
